39 Weeks and Touchdown!!

This is by birth story. Typed by me. As it is happening. I wanted to be sure to remember every detail. Some of it may be PG-13 so if that weirds you out don't read it lol.

The past week I have had insane contractions. They hurt, they are consistent, and I have been a good deal of pain. I can only sleep while drugged. Well, last night (12/29/2011) i came in to get checked by the doc on call because i felt that the cramps were a little more than they should be. My contractions registered on the monitor; however, my cervix wasn't up to playing ball. STUCK. so they sent me home to labor some more. I went home, ate some french fries (because for some reason that is all I want these days) and took an Ambien at 745 and slept till 4 o clock this morning.
When I woke up at 4 I could tell that i was having much more consistent contractions...like 4-5 minutes apart. So I bounced on the ball, took a shower, did my hair and make-up. When Wes woke up i told him, "we are having a baby today. I don't care if it means I jump on a trampoline while drinking Castor Oil." luckily it didnt take any jumping or drinking of castor oil (honestly i would be too much of a wimp to try it anyways lol) At 8:30am I called both my mom and my dad and let them know we were having a baby today. Both of them laughed at me. I was dead serious. I am done being pregnant. I went into my Dr's for my appt, told her about the pain and such and she said she would send me upstairs and if they needed to they would augment my labor. I was so happy the contractions and cramps didn't hurt so bad anymore. So here i sit in the hospital at a 5+ cm. 80 percent effaced...waiting to party. We have been walking and I have been bouncing on the exercise ball. We also watched the BYU bowl game. BYU won with just a few seconds left in the game. I think Mina was sending them good luck. :)
It's 1:40 pm 12/30 and my Dr just broke my water. It felt crazy weird. It didn't hurt, it just felt weird. I sat up to finish my sentence and i felt a gush. It was pretty anti-climatic. I was expecting something much more exciting when my water broke lol.
At 3:45 I was still a 5+ so they gave me some petocin. i didn't need very much though because i immediately started to dilate more. My mom left at about 4:45 ish to go get a book from a store down the street and immediately had to turn around because i was complete real quickly! I knew I had to push and was ready to go. It took about 6 good pushes to get her out and she was here! she was born at 5:55pm. Weighing 7lbs 11oz and measuring at 20.5 inches. she had a wrinkly little head. she has reddish blonde hair and blue eyes (for now...hoping they stick!) i was so stinkin happy. I held it together until Wesley held her then I started bawling. He is so cute with her. i love her chin and her nose. i love the way her nostrils flare up. i love everything about my baby Mina.
She slept pretty well the first night only waking up when hungry or with a dirty diaper. and is latching on wonderfully! She is beautiful and I can't get enough of her! Sharon Johnson came and did our birth story and we will will have those pictures soon and I can post them! I highly recommend getting a birth story. Totally non-intrusive and i am so excited to see the pics!

37 weeks and counting

37 weeks and 5 days! WOOT! We are getting there.

Best moment of the week:Wes gets off of work tomorrow and then doesn't have to go back until the 2nd of January. I find this amazing! I love getting husband time. Also earlier in the week Wes gave me a spa day!! and Yesterday I got my Christmas Present early....an IPhone!

Movement: Mina hates contractions and feels the need to kick me in the ribs when i have them.

Labor Signs: Braxton Hicks Contractions also 3+cm dilated, 75 percent effaced, lost my plug (not that that is truly a labor sign), and apparently i've been told i am nesting.

Belly Button: a much more prominent outtie which looks weird because of my laprascopic surgeries so it is just an ugly lookin scar

What i miss: being able to self manage my anxiety. it is almost impossible lately. also chik fil a lemonade...i can't drink it because of the heartburn lol.

What I am looking forward to: Wes' Birthday, Christmas, MINA COMING!! She will be here NLT Jan 2nd!

Update

I haven't posted in 20 days. . . life has been incredibly busy.

since i have posted the following has happened in my pregnancy realm of life.....

-I have gone into labor multiple times and needed a trebutaline shot to stop the contractions.
-I have had crazy amounts of contractions--mostly braxton hicks--but annoying nonetheless
-I reached 34 Weeks! YAY!
-We got an official inducement date of January 2nd. (i hope she chooses to come a little before then ut at least i have a surety of an ending in sight. THANK GOODNESS)
-I officially waddle like a duck
-I am officially done being pregnant and would like it to be over soon. annoyed. uncomfortable. anxious to see our baby Mina.

In the other parts of our life
-We moved this weekend. a 3 bedroom apartment!! I am soooo happy to have extra room and be settled enough that I can set up her room and be totally completely 100 percent set up for when she comes. I don't have a crib yet...but my mom keeps telling me to relax and that it is unnecessary to have right away...still anxious about it but i will deal with it and trust her seeing as how she has had 6 children.
-We had thanksgiving. We were bummed because we were supposed to go to PDX but because Mina keeps trying to make early appearances we including my doctor decided it would be a better decision to stay close. We did have fun with my family and enjoyed the smoked turkey Vaughn made.
-Wes and I are officially completely registered for school. i am only taking one class but Wes is taking 4 and i believe he is pretty stoked to be going back!

Well that is all. I will post a picture and update tomorrow when i look presentable.

The Baby Showers.

this will be my last post for the day.

My friends are amazing. I couldn't ask for better ones. Devin, Ashley, Tara, and Emily all threw an amazing shower that couldn't have been any better. I was absolutely amazed at how much work they put in just for me. It was beautiful. Here are a few pics from the day taken by Ashley :)

We had so many wonderful people come and join the fun. Jennifer, Cydnee, Alexa, Virginia, Alyson, Cami, Margeaux, Carlie, and few other people. ( i have a terrible memory right now...this is why i blog. so i remember stuff like this.)

We also got to open a gift from NaNa Speight and got a bunch of super cute outfits!

I loved the cupcake theme. I loved everything about it really!

This past weekend my mom through me a family baby shower (and a few friends came as well!)
It was also wonderful. We had delicious soup. Vaughn made a cauliflower chicken soup and my mom made very yummy cheddar cheese ham and potato soup. We also had a plethora of desserts.
We had my mom, Kylie, my Aunts Judi, Jill, Becky, Jacki, Holly, Tammy, and Amber. From my home ward we had Christy Layne, Becky Lundberg, Katherine Lambourne, Julie Sanford. My cousins Missy and Brittany and my Grandma Masson. We got tons of cute clothes, diapers, toys, and my Uncle Tracy made an adorable magnet board to hang in her nursery.

Here are some pics from that shower

i am so thankful for all the support we have been given!!

Poor Wesley

My belly is getting increasingly big... The other day i needed to paint my toenails because i was wearing open toed shoes. i definitely couldn't reach well enough to do it. So i asked Wes to do it. What a good husband he is.
I am actually pretty dang impressed with the caliber of his nail painting.

yep. my toes are swollen too. oh the joys of being massive. Its all for a good cause though.

Cancun!!

We went to Cancun and very much enjoyed the vacation! I did struggle when we walked around Chichen Itza a bit because i got tired pretty dang fast. I also took probably close to 400 naps (okay maybe not that many) but i really did take a lot of them. It was a much needed babymoon and it was just what the doctor ordered!

I haven't updated in way way too long...

I have been so crazy busy i haven't really had time to update...so prepare yourself. there will be a few posts tonight.

First of all I am 30 weeks! yay! We are almost there!! Here is my 30 week picture....in my halloween costume.

Best moment of the week: We went to Cancun and enjoyed a wonderful vacation, then we came home and enjoyed a fun party with friends, i then had 2 baby showers (posts to come), and then Halloween!!

Movement: Mina is a VERY hard kicker. i get woken up in the middle of the night from one swift kick.

Labor Signs: Braxton Hicks Contractions.

Belly Button: a much more prominent outtie

What i miss: energy. i found out i have severe iron deficiency anemia. i have no energy to do anything.

What I am looking forward to: Arizona this weekend and Portland for Thanksgiving.

the past few days

i have never been one to get headaches. i know....i get everything else on the face of this earth but i rarely get headaches. i can honestly say i have never had a migraine (that i know of) until last thursday.

i wanted to pull my brains out. i wanted to stab my eyes. i was seconds away from cutting my head off. i kept trying everything. lavender, tylenol, coke, EVERYTHING. the only thing that would help would be to lay in a dark dark room and take a benadryl and sleep. my head was pounding.

this went on for several days.

two days ago i had enough. luckily i had a Dr's appt scheduled for wednesday at 1:30. i got off work and got on the bus to ride home. oh my aching head. i put on my sunglasses and closed my eyes hoping the ride would end quickly. finally. we got to the transit center (where i hop on the actual bus that takes me home) as i was getting off the bus i threw up. EVERYWHERE. i threw up on the bus driver. on the concrete. on myself. it was awful. i knew i couldn't ride the next bus home. my back was pounding, my head was pounding, i was barfing. i needed a ride. i called my friend casey who came and gave me a ride to Wes' work to get the vehicle. i drove home and called the dr. the nurse told me to come in to labor and delivery. oh crap.

i got into labor and delivery they checked the baby...everything was fine. IN FACT. Mina was so active she kept kicking the monitor off of her so that we couldn't get her heartbeat anymore. however i was having a crapload of contractions. small ones. but consistent ones. the doctor gave me a whole load of drugs. told me to take it easy. luckily my cervix hadn't opened up yet. which is good. then started on the headache part. she gave me migraine medication....holy moley....my head felt alive again. the dr also told me a large part of my problems was an extremely low level of iron. i could look out the window. the tv and phone screen didn't burn my eyes. i was there for a while and after several hours of observation my dr told me i could go home.. she told me to take my migraine meds, and iron supplements twice a day.

thankfully Mina is safely inside my womb and was given a very strict lecture to wait by her father and i.
dr said there is no need to worry for right now and will keep a close eye on us.

another little story about Mina:
something you may not know about Wes is that he likes Elton John. A LOT. well i enjoy him as well. so every afternoon i put my ipod by my belly and play Elton John. whenever Tiny Dancer comes on Mina starts kicking. i have taken note of this. so last night Wes wanted to feel Mina kick. I turned on Tiny Dancer, put it to my belly, waited a second and WHAM! she kicked Wes' hand. We are proud to say we have another Elton John fan in the family.

We are happy Mina is healthy, and I am thankful for the blessing of getting to carry her and grow her little body inside my belly.

One thing I want to pass on....BARGAIN SHOPPING!!

I love bargain shopping. I love getting good deals...it makes me quite happy inside!!

Here are some things we have gotten/made recently for a SUPER awesome price!

This is an art project for baby Mina's room! It cost us hardly anything.
We got the wood for 4.00
The paint for .89
The tacky glue for 1.50
The scrapbook paper for .20
The letters for .50*4 = 2.00

I will admit Wes did a great deal of the work...he is just much more crafty then I....but it was my idea :)

The next thing we have gotten for a great deal is CLOTHES
We have gotten several outfits.. We have 7 outfits total and 3 pairs of leggings for a total of 25.00
Kohl's has an amazing clearance rack!! I can't believe some people will spend as much as they do! We got some really cute clothes...some of which i would wear if they carried in my size.

Our bassinet was 20.00 off of KSL and it is just like this one! Some lady was moving and needed to get rid of it! it also rocks back and forth and vibrates to help soothe the baby! It was still in the box!

Next we went to a consignment sale in Logan and we got a LeachCo deluxe pillow and a Fisher Price Bouncy Seat for 20.00. The cover on the pillow is actually polka dots and more yellow and pink not so much for a little boy haha. but the seat is exactly what we got.

Then of course there is always the wonderful travel system I posted about previously and the Crib and Dresser my friend Jenn is giving to me for next to nothing! So excited to see what else I can find for cheap!

Mina Alyson--our little princess

It's A Girl!!! So exciting! I thought for sure it was going to be a boy! I am so excited to by lots of pretty pink things!!!

We have chosen the name Mina Alyson

Mina-
In German : Love
In Persian: Flower
In Norwegian (where dad served his mission): Loved Memory
In Native American: First Born Daughter
In Old English: Strong-Willed Warrior

All of these are wonderful meanings. We hope that you will be loving and kind and know that you in return are always loved. You will be as beautiful as a flower...we are sure of it. Every memory with you will be a loved memory we will never want to forget. You are the first-born daughter meaning you will have lots of responsibility for your future siblings just as i had as the oldest sister. And lastly we hope you will be a strong-willed warrior for many things. We hope and pray that you will stand up for what is right in all things and in all places.

Alyson-
First and most importantly Alyson is the name of my best friend in the whole world. She is a great part of why i am who i am today. She is a very strong person and is always kind and helpful to everyone she can be. She always puts a smile on my face, just as i am sure you will. Most importantly from her i hope you have her strong love of the gospel and the need to do what is right.

In French: Of noble kind
Old German: Noble, Exalted

You are a daughter of noble birth. You are a daughter of your Heavenly Father.  I hope you always remember that.

We love your name and have loved it for a very long time. It has a lot of meaning to us. We can't wait for you to come!!
