the past few days

i have never been one to get headaches. i know....i get everything else on the face of this earth but i rarely get headaches. i can honestly say i have never had a migraine (that i know of) until last thursday.

i wanted to pull my brains out. i wanted to stab my eyes. i was seconds away from cutting my head off. i kept trying everything. lavender, tylenol, coke, EVERYTHING. the only thing that would help would be to lay in a dark dark room and take a benadryl and sleep. my head was pounding.

this went on for several days.

two days ago i had enough. luckily i had a Dr's appt scheduled for wednesday at 1:30. i got off work and got on the bus to ride home. oh my aching head. i put on my sunglasses and closed my eyes hoping the ride would end quickly. finally. we got to the transit center (where i hop on the actual bus that takes me home) as i was getting off the bus i threw up. EVERYWHERE. i threw up on the bus driver. on the concrete. on myself. it was awful. i knew i couldn't ride the next bus home. my back was pounding, my head was pounding, i was barfing. i needed a ride. i called my friend casey who came and gave me a ride to Wes' work to get the vehicle. i drove home and called the dr. the nurse told me to come in to labor and delivery. oh crap.

i got into labor and delivery they checked the baby...everything was fine. IN FACT. Mina was so active she kept kicking the monitor off of her so that we couldn't get her heartbeat anymore. however i was having a crapload of contractions. small ones. but consistent ones. the doctor gave me a whole load of drugs. told me to take it easy. luckily my cervix hadn't opened up yet. which is good. then started on the headache part. she gave me migraine medication....holy moley....my head felt alive again. the dr also told me a large part of my problems was an extremely low level of iron. i could look out the window. the tv and phone screen didn't burn my eyes. i was there for a while and after several hours of observation my dr told me i could go home.. she told me to take my migraine meds, and iron supplements twice a day.

thankfully Mina is safely inside my womb and was given a very strict lecture to wait by her father and i.
dr said there is no need to worry for right now and will keep a close eye on us.

another little story about Mina:
something you may not know about Wes is that he likes Elton John. A LOT. well i enjoy him as well. so every afternoon i put my ipod by my belly and play Elton John. whenever Tiny Dancer comes on Mina starts kicking. i have taken note of this. so last night Wes wanted to feel Mina kick. I turned on Tiny Dancer, put it to my belly, waited a second and WHAM! she kicked Wes' hand. We are proud to say we have another Elton John fan in the family.

We are happy Mina is healthy, and I am thankful for the blessing of getting to carry her and grow her little body inside my belly.
